An app called Cheetah3D is the only one I've found so far that will open my. He said the files could be edited in a text editor to correct that, but that's just Greek to me. obj files created by my old modeler uses carriage returns as a delimiter instead of new line. Someone on a forum there said that my problem is that the. I ran into the same problem with Blender. obj files and then try to import them into Maya LT, Maya LT acts as if the. But here's the problem: when I export objects from the old program as. I was looking into Maya or Maya LT as a possibility. I say it again with all due respect for your work: you have everything to gain by removing this limitation.īackground: My old Mac OS modeling program is no longer supported and won't run on the most recent system versions. ![]() So my advice is you have everything to gain by removing it, because this limitation does not encourage the independent developers community to buy the full version, it only negatively impacts your reputation and pushes some of them to turn to other software. ![]() I speak with many indie devellopers and everyone says the same thing : Maya's Lt is a good idea because having all the modeling, uv's and animations tools is awesome to work but this poly limitation break completely our workflow and pay the full version only to not have it is dumb. Yes i downloaded Blender only to do THIS. I know that this question has already been addressed but I allow myself to bring it back because it seems important to express my feeling about it: your Polygon limitation is totally stupid : i started to devellop my own game alone, and when i want to export some high poly model, i'm always have to watch my poly acount and sometimes i have to split my model and re assemblate it with blender. Also, I do freelance and my clients want Maya Complete scenes with special setup that doesn't translate well with FBX. Personally I'm a modeler so don't need and never use most features of Maya Complete like simulation or rendering so currently I feel like I'm paying almost 10x the price just to have Python and plugin support which is ridiculous! LT is not a viable option since it's crippled in weird ways like not having access to the Crease Sets editor since it's in Python. This is currently a pilot program for select privileged countries unfortunately and from what support told me, there's no plan to extend this program for at least another year! For freelancers like me who love Maya but are struggling to get anywhere close to that income since we live in second rate countries, we are stuck between choosing to pay 2000E for the full version or ditching our beloved plugins and python scripts and working in LT. About one year ago Autodesk announced Maya Indie, basically Maya full for the price of LT for individuals and companies making under 100k a year. Most of the ideas in this forum are about bringing features back from Maya Full to Maya LT, features that were cut to justify the price difference. ![]()
